What we do

Intergraf mission statement

Intergraf's main task is to promote and protect the interests of the printing and related indutries, working with the European Institutions, and to enhance the sector's competitiveness through lobbying, informing and networking .

Lobbying

Intergraf covers a wide range of European policies related to the graphic industry. In this task, Intergraf interacts with several different Directorates General (DG) at the European Commission: Enterprise, Environment, Employment, Trade, Enlargement, as well as with Eurostat and the European Parliament.

Within DG Enterprise, Intergraf is part of the Forest-based Industries Unit that apart from the graphic industry, also represents the forest, wood, furniture, paper producers and paper converting sectors. As result of being part of the different official working groups of this unit, Intergraf has a direct access to policy makers to defend the printing industry's interests.

Furthermore, Intergraf voices the concerns of the printing industry through regular direct contact with Commission officials of different DGs through letters and position papers. When appropriate, it acts in collaboration with other industrial sectors.

The main objective towards the European Commission is to scrutinise planned legislation with potential impact on the sector's competitiveness. If a significant impact is expected, Intergraf will include the subject in its agenda, consult with its members and raise the consensus to be forwarded to the authorities.

Through first-hand information and continuous feedback with its members, Intergraf provides a tool to support its members in many aspects of their national lobbying activities.

Informing

Intergraf is the source of information for its members regarding the different EU policies affecting the printing industry. Our members receive information on legislative and regulatory processes concerning environment, social issues, health & safety, statistics and other relevant matters. Intergraf has a wide range of sister associations with which regular contact is maintained in order to keep informed on activities of related industries and sectors.

Intergraf also publishes and distributes to its members a monthly Newsflash and several detailed enquiries on specific subjects regarding the sector. It also co-ordinates in-depth studies. Intergraf participates in EU-funded research projects and programmes when these are of direct benefit to member associations and their member companies, or to the printing industry as a whole.

Networking

Intergraf provides its members with contacts to other associations all over Europe. Annual meetings of the Directors or Secretaries General ensure a regular exchange of information, experience and best practices.

Furthermore, Intergraf has established different Working Parties with experts of the national federations to ensure a close participation of its members in the process of European policy making and on market issues. The working parties cover the following subjects: Environment, Social issues including Health & Safety and Economics & Statistics.

Intergraf has two sections which deal with specific parts of the printing sector: (1) security printing and (2) bookbinding & print finishing.

The World Print & Communication Forum (WPCF) regroups most of the world Federations of the Printing Industry such as China, China - Hong Kong, Europe, India, Japan and North America. Intergraf holds the international secretariat of the WPCF and represents Europe within the forum.
