Communication While the logo remains the same, the subtitle of Intergraf has changed to reflect the expanded focus of the printing industry. Intergraf is no longer the International confederation for printing and allied industries, but the European federation for print and digital communication.

It is no secret that the world of print has changed beyond recognition. Digital technology has transformed the way we live and communicate. Printers are now asked to provide full multimedia communication services as well as fulfil standard printing jobs.

But what do we mean by print and digital communication? Simply put, whether by print or digital, printing companies are in the business of communication. Printers are being asked, and are able to provide marketing services, online solutions, print digitally, use QR codes, integrate digital elements with printed products etc. These technologies are not to be feared; rather they are to be embraced.

The subtitle has also changed to European to greater reflect the fact that, while some of Intergraf’s operations involve non-EU countries, the vast majority of lobbying, events and member services are EU focused. Beatrice Klose, Secretary General of Intergraf: “Printers have the knowledge, the experience and the ability to provide a wide variety of modern communication services and are in a strong position to capitalise on their existing relationships with customers. More and more, we see companies which embrace new technologies moving to the forefront, and we believe it is vital to the success of the industry that the challenges and opportunities of this shifting environment be met with an open mind and a flexible manner.”

Print and digital are two sides of the same coin - communication. They work in tandem for the benefit of the customer and the printer. We will never live in an entirely digital world just as we cannot, and would not, want to turn the clock back to a non-digital world. Print and digital are powerful and complementary forms of communication. Intergraf will represent both.
